WHAT IS A SELMER REFERENCE 54 SERIES
The Reference series currently proposes two tenor saxophone versions : Reference 36 and Reference 54. Inspired by arguably the greatest saxophone of all time, the Selmer Reference 54 is an amalgamation of vintage sound and aesthetics and modern day reliability, bringing players closer to the famous saxophonists of yesteryear. Reference is a new Selmer Paris concept which combines acoustic or ergonomic characteristics of several famous previous Selmer Paris models with the qualities of today’s top design and manufacture. I had no hesitation in going ahead with a trade-in purchase. There are no dents or dings, and no resolders. The only real wear is some light surface scratching on the bottom bow and bell, the kind you only see in the right light.
This horn was played only as a store demo horn, and is in excellent physical condition.
WHAT IS A SELMER REFERENCE 54 SERIAL NUMBER
Although the Mk6 and Reference 36 Selmer models and the Yanagasawa were good, the Selmer Reference 54 really stood out from the rest and far exceeded my expectations. This is a Selmer Reference 54 alto sax, serial number 653704.
WHAT IS A SELMER REFERENCE 54 PROFESSIONAL
A perfect replacement for the legendary Selmer Mark VI I played all the professional level tenor saxophones new and used, including the latest Yanagasawa and Selmer models.
